The job
Run the back office, build the systems, lead the remote team.
Growing small businesses outgrow the owner doing everything. As their operations manager you run the back office: scheduling, billing, vendors and hiring support. You build the checklists and reports the team works from, lead or support their other remote staff, and give the owner a clear picture of the week. It is also where this work can lead: one of the four reps PJ hired at $6 an hour runs his company now.
What you will do
- Run scheduling, billing and vendor follow-up day to day
- Build and keep the checklists, processes and reports the team works from
- Lead or support the business’s other remote staff
- Report the week’s numbers to the owner
- Take problems off the owner’s plate before they reach it
What you need
- 2 or more years of remote work for companies in the US, UK, Canada or Australia, including time leading a team or running a back office
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Organized: you write things down and follow through
- Full time on US business hours, long term
- Stable internet, a quiet workspace, and backup power and internet for outages
Good to have
- Experience in a home service business
- Bookkeeping or payroll experience
- Experience hiring or training staff

Pay
About $1,560 to $2,080 a month, full time, at $9 to $12 an hour. Paid by the business directly, in US dollars, usually through Wise, Payoneer or Deel.
